John and I live in a quiet setting on 5
1/2 acres of mostly wooded land located between Baltimore and Annapolis
Maryland. We and the dogs enjoy the private
setting. We moved here in August of 1997 after looking for just
the right spot for over 2 years. We designed and built the house
ourselves and are very proud of what we have accomplished.
We have 5 children, all grown, 2 married. We have 7
adorable grandchildren, 4 girls and 3 boys.
Even though all the children were just about grown, when we designed
the house, we designed it with our large family and the dogs in mind.
That way we have plenty of room when everyone comes to visit. The
house has an open floor plan which makes it easy to move around in.
Even though there is plenty of room the dogs always want to be under
foot or in our lap. They also have their own room which got a lot
of interest when we were building the house. Everyone kept asking
the same question in disbelief, "Your dogs have their own room?" I
would just smile and say "Of course, don't yours?" We also have a
special place in the laundry room where a whelping box just fits so when
we have pups, mom and pups have a private place of their own. The
design has worked out very well.
Besides our Chesapeakes we also have a family
mascot who is a "Field Type" Irish Setter. She is smaller than the
show Irish and loves to hunt anything and everything. She is also
a good little retriever. I guess being raised with Chessies rubbed
off on her.
In addition to the Chesses that live with us, we also co-own others that live with their other owners.
We love spending time with our family, especially the grandchildren.
John loves to go hunting whenever possible and we both enjoy shooting.
Other than that, the dogs and keeping up with the house and surrounding
woods is about all we have time for so we really do not have any other
hobbies. You wouldn't think woods would be that much
trouble, but it is full of tassel type pines that are always
blowing over, breaking or just falling down. There always seems to
be a tree down that needs cleaning up. Of course the dogs love to
"help" with any chore we are doing.
If you are ever in the neighbor hood, please give us a call and stop
by to meet all of us.
